Elidir Fawr

Elidir Fawr is the northernmost peak in the Glyderau region in Eryri National Park (Snowdonia)

Standing at 924m (3031ft), it is also one of the fifteen 'Welsh 3000's'

It is known locally as the ‘Electric Mountain’ as, deep within the mountain, is Dinorwig Power Station with over 10 miles of tunnels and an enormous cavern known as ‘The Concert Hall’. Dinorwig Power Station can generate 1728MW of power within 12 seconds and was constructed on the site of the Dinorwig slate quarries, which closed in the 1960s.
