Route

If you’re after a quieter day in the mountains, Fan Nedd is a brilliant pick. Tucked away in the quieter western reaches of Bannau Brycheiniog, this route offers a peaceful escape with far-reaching views, without the crowds you’ll often find on neighbouring peaks.

The walk starts with a steady climb that winds along a grassy path, gradually opening up to sweeping views across the national park. Or so I’m told — every time I’ve walked it the weather’s been pants, so I’ll just have to take everyone else’s word for it.

The summit itself is marked by a trig point at one end and a sizeable cairn at the other.

The terrain is mostly grassy, though it can get a little soggy in places after rain, so boots are still recommended.
