Route

This short out-and-back route starts from a small roadside lay-by. You’ll follow the road briefly before heading through a small gate and into open fields. A quick heads-up - there’s no pavement, and cars pass quickly here, so take care if you're walking with a dog that’s uneasy around traffic.

Don't let the distance fool you, the ascent is steep and the ground is rough underfoot. There’s no clear path, and sheep tracks can easily lead you astray, so regular navigation checks are a must.

During the first half of the climb, you might spot a few old marker posts, though many are broken or hard to spot. The second half involves thick heather and boggy patches so long trousers or gaiters are definitely recommended! Due to the lack of a clear trail, I wouldn’t suggest attempting this route in poor visibility as you’ll miss the views, and it’s easy to get disoriented.

The summit is wonderfully remote and very exposed, with a small wind shelter that makes the perfect sandwich stop before heading back down the same way.
