Information
Hydrotherapy has been a huge part of Riley’s life from early on. We knew it was something we wanted to build into her routine, not just for recovery but to keep her fit, confident and comfortable in the water. From the very first sessions we focused on making it a calm and positive space, helping her get used to the environment, the smells, the sounds and of course the lovely team who work there.
The benefits of hydrotherapy go far beyond just post-injury rehab. It uses the natural properties of water to ease discomfort, reduce swelling and support mobility. Because it takes the pressure off their joints, dogs can move more freely than they might on land, especially if they’re recovering, dealing with weakness or just a bit stiff. It’s a gentle, noninvasive treatment and can be a real boost for both body and mind.
In Riley’s case, regular sessions helped us spot an injury early in 2025. Thanks to a mix of physiotherapy and hydrotherapy, we got ahead of it and she was back bounding up mountains before we knew it.
Hydrotherapy is also fantastic as a long-term tool for wellbeing. Whether it’s helping older dogs stay mobile without strain or keeping active dogs in peak condition for their next adventure, it’s a brilliant way to support strength, joint health and injury prevention.
Westmac Canine Therapies offers the ideal setup for this kind of care. Their purpose built spaces, experienced team and dog led approach make each session tailored and thoughtful. With the opening of their Newport branch in 2025, alongside their long-standing Trellech base, Westmac Canine Therapies is now even more accessible for dogs across South Wales and beyond
