Riley's Food

Food

Riley is a High Uric Acid (HUA) Dalmatian, which means she can’t properly break down purines in her diet. A build-up of purines can lead to urate bladder or kidney stones, so we avoid high-purine foods like offal, yeast, and oily fish. Keeping her well-hydrated is also key - it helps dilute her urine and encourages frequent flushing of the system.

We made the switch to a raw-fed diet when Riley was around 16 weeks old. One of the biggest reasons behind this was that raw food naturally contains more moisture than kibble, helping with hydration. After researching a number of companies, we found that ProDog Raw offered the widest range of low-purine options to suit her needs.

*Please note: this is based on our personal experience. Every dog is different, and it's important to do your own research when considering diet changes.

Treats

We are a huge fan of natural treats and absolutely love the selection on offer from JR Pet Products.

Their paté is a firm favourite for our long hikes!
