Barlwyd Huts, Plas Weunydd
Blaenau Ffestiniog, Gwynedd
Perched on the edge of Snowdonia National Park, the Barlwyd Shepherd’s Huts at Plas Weunydd are a cosy hideaway with breathtaking views of the surrounding moorland and mountains. Each hut blends traditional shepherd’s hut charm with modern comforts, featuring a log burner, kitchenette, snug bed, and en-suite shower room — everything you need for an intimate escape in nature.
Step outside to your private BBQ, pizza oven, and seating area, ideal for stargazing or unwinding after a day of adventure. The huts embrace a true off-grid feel, with no WiFi, limited hot water, and a battery pack for phone charging. To make life easier, an electric buggy is provided to whisk you up to your hut from the main hotel.
Guests can choose to add extras like BBQ, pizza, or breakfast packs, or head down to the hotel for a relaxed meal at the foot of the mountain. For the ultimate wind-down, there’s even a sauna tucked beside Llynnau Barlwyd, perfect after a wild swim in the lake.
Best of all, the huts are dog-friendly, with endless walking routes right on the doorstep — including a chance to take on Yr Wyddfa (Snowdon), Wales’s highest peak. Whether you’re seeking a peaceful retreat or an adventure-filled break, the Barlwyd Shepherd’s Huts make an unforgettable base for exploring North Wales.
